Stop! Thief!
squirrel on birdfeeder :: may twenty seventh two thousand seven
Our birdseed has been disappearing from the feeder at an alarming rate, and I’d been blaming the grackles for it. They’re ALWAYS on the feeder and scaring the other birds away. But Friday night, I spotted this little fella. He climbed that pole so easily I know he’d done it before.
Guess this means I’ll have to buy a squirrel feeder so he’ll stop using this one. That’s a wicked cheap pole and it’s not in the ground particulary well (we’re on sand, so nothing really ‘sticks’ ). He must be the reason its at a 45 degree angle now. There’s no way the grackles are that heavy.
I tried to be mad at him, but it wasn’t possible. How could you be angry at a face like this?

The blue jays are getting used to me at least. The cardinal still won’t come in the yard if we’re outside. Even to one of the trees. His mate doesn’t seem to care… she’s almost always at the feeder whan I take the dogs out. This little guy stared at me for the longest time before coming pretty close - I used a zoom lense to get this shot, but I probably could have gotten closer to him and gotten the same shot with the kit lense.

That’s Claudia’s handpainted in Butter Pecan - which I think will be sox for the MIL. And a copy of “Adorable Knits for Tots”. (What? My friends are having babies and there is the MOST AMAZING pirate sweater in there. I’ve got that marked for SOMEONE’ s first born. I know the day will come - I just don’t know when. *grin*) Plus I love that star sweater on the cover - I’m thinking about knitting it for Beatle.

Still Moving in

Hi there. Welcome to Good Advices. Stole the name from an R.E.M. song. I always liked it and thought it would be a good domain for a bit of a rebirth of sorts. Meet my warmer, softer side.
I’m in the middle of going back to school, so I’m going to stick with the default template for now. We’ll see when I can squeeze time in to finish the code. *sigh*
And the name? My favorite nickname “hockeycized” as someone put it. I can’t remember who first called me Mat, but I always liked it. It embraced my inner tomboy. And it’s an anagram of the real name, so I’m going to go with it.
