Weirdness…

My three favorite songs today, in no particular order:

Til the end, he passed out on the
Sundeck that morning
Quietly saying goodbye
But I was so hammered I sputtered and stammered
Told him he couldn’t just die
He was a rock
Went straight for his own armegeddon
Face froze in a grin
Ambulance flying in, I never drank again
Can’t really call that a loss or a win

- The Drinking Song (Moxy Früvous)

——

Some people they are scared to croak but Jimmy drank until he choked
And he took the road for heaven in the morning

- Sally MacLennane (The Pogues)

——

I had too much to drink
I didn’t think
And I didn’t think of you
I guess that’s all I needed
To go it alone

- Half A World Away (R.E.M.)

Any one else sensing a theme here????

I vented on FB about those stupid breast cancer memes that have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with breast cancer and everything to do with being immature and stupid. (Post your shoe size and how long it takes to do your hair. PS - don’t tell the boys!)

I pissed off one person extremely badly… and I wish I gave two shits about their feelings. Telling me that you have a friend who died of breast cancer, yet engaging in this stupidity, seems contradictory to me. Wouldn’t you want to make sure your other friends do what they need to so that you possibly don’t lose any more friends to breast cancer?

Then, the final straw, and the one that made me delete the status before I went on a complete rampage was when I was told that “it’s just FB, chill out”. (I’m paraphrasing here, but it’s close to the actual quote.)

Apparently, getting upset over the endless stream of this bullshit in my news feed and getting inundated with messages to engage in this stupidity, means I’m taking FB too seriously. Um, no. I just want stuff with substance in my news feed.

I’m going to be changing up a lot of my security settings and probably defriending a lot of people over the weekend… if they thought they were pissed off over a status, I’m curious to see how they take a defriending.

I have a tumblr account if I want to see stupid internet memes ad nauseum. I don’t need to see that shit on FB.

Wishes do come true

At WendyandMark’s wedding, we made wishes on those lantern thingies…

Mine came true.

Holy mother of fuck, did it come true.

Three boys…

Even though I’m feeling a lot better about life (no anxiety or heart issues for a few weeks now!), our long weekend in Maine kind of threw me for a loop. I’ve been surrounded with some weird memories, resurfacing at weird times, all centered around my father and Maine, and the trip almost broke me. Maine’s too sacred a place to go to when I’m off my game.

That said, I’ve had three very different men rock my world in very positive ways in the same week. Sometimes, you just need a reminder of who you are, and why you include these people in your life.

1) An email from the boss after I joked about him searching for my replacement during my first vacation in two years:

If the road to replacing you starts with “know a recent college grad looking for his or her first gig out of school?,” given the complexity of your job and the work that you do, you should be safe for twenty years! 😊

2) From an ex-boyfriend’s response to my comment on his FB status:

I want you to know that you never did me any wrong, and although my behavior may have said otherwise, I never held any ill feelings towards you. I thought you were crazy (GRIN),but who of the people we hung out with wasn’t?

If I never said it before, I am sorry for the way I treated you when I bounced in and out of your life. I offer no excuses for my behavior in the past.

3) From The One I Should Stay Away From:

You played a large part in saving my life.

Gah.

So this is what “normal” feels like…

Life is good… there’s a lot to blog about and no time to do it.

I’m fine with that. It means I’m out living again. Enjoying stuff. Finding new ways to occupy blocks of time that used to be dedicated to work and school.

Fencing is fun again.

Drum corp starts in October.

Next week is my first vacation in two years.

I’m sure I’ll pick up blogging again and do it a little more frequently, but right now, being chained to a computer is the last thing I want to do.
