My last day of unemployment
chucks and jeans, man. chucks and jeans.
I alluded to this yesterday, but I wanted to archive it here:
New boss to me: First order of business, get your printer working, hahah.
Me to J (email fwd to him): And this is my new boss… that last sentence just killed me.
J to me: Nice. Enjoy your last 2 days of freedom.
Me to J: I just tried to “like” that. I need to get off of FB and tumblr…
Seriously… if this job goes as well as the interviews did, and this email implies, I’ll be quite happy there.

I started cleaning out my home office because it becomes the place where all the crap winds up. It’s like the dumping ground for homeless stuff, and it bugs me. I normally get too overwhelmed by the idea of cleaning it, though, so it gets worse and worse until I do a big purge.
I’m on my second (third?) bag of garbage. I have two big boxes of paperwork that needs to be filed. And a bunch of picture frames that don’t match any of the others.
I’ve been very good about making things look the same in my office. I’m all about consistency in there for some reason. Maybe because this is the second time it’s been painted and refurnished? For whatever reason, I’ve become very obsessed with making it perfect.
So. Yesterday, I decided to run out, really quickly, to the Jo-Ann Fabrics five minutes from my house. All I wanted was white or blonde wood picture frames. That’s all.
Jo-Ann had nothing in the sizes I needed and definitely nothing in the right colour. Had I not been me, I could have run next door to Wal-Mart and probably solved my problem.
But no.
I fucking hate Wal-Mart, so I will not go in there. It doesn’t matter that it’s so close. If Wal-Mart were the only place in the world that carried air, food, water, and other necessities for a long life, I’d opt to die. (OK. Maybe that’s a wee bit dramatic, but I REALLY HATE Wal-Mart.)
I decided to drive to Target. Nope. Nothing there.
Michael’s? Nope. Nothing there, either.
I had no idea it would be that fucking hard to find a picture frame.
My quick 15 minute trip turned into a two hour nightmare, and I really didn’t plan on being gone that long.
I learned about American Frame when we lived in Toledo. They’re based in Maumee, so it was nice and easy to order online and pick up in the store. Now, I have to pay for the shipping, but I can get exactly what I need in the sizes I need it in. Their customer service rocks, too.
There’s not much I miss about Toledo, but I never thought a frame store would be on that list.
Yeah, I could use the Michael’s custom framing department because they use Nielsen metal framing, too, but the last time I used a custom framer, they screwed up the order. It’s not worth it for me to go through that again.

I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for a Monday to come. If I wasn’t hanging out with Sprout on Saturday, I think I’d go nuts this weekend, because it has the potential to be the longest weekend ever.
